Adaptive clothing for women
Clothing you enjoy wearing should also be easy to put on and take off. However small buttons, zippers, and tight openings can become difficult to manage when hand strength decreases or it becomes harder to raise your arms, or move your legs.
At Seniiorwear, you’ll find adaptive clothing for older women and women with limited mobility. Our designs look like familiar everyday clothing but include discreet features that can make dressing easier and more comfortable.
Our range of adaptive clothing for women
Different dressing challenges require different solutions. Our collection includes:
- Tops with magnetic zippers, for women who find it difficult to connect a traditional zipper.
- Sweaters with magnetic zippers, offering the same practical closure in a warmer design.
- Polo shirts with magnetic buttons, which fasten without handling small buttons and buttonholes.
- Side-opening pants, designed to make dressing easier for wheelchair users and women who spend extended periods in bed.
The adaptive features are incorporated discreetly, allowing the clothing to retain a familiar and modern appearance.
Women’s tops with magnetic zippers
Connecting the two sides at the bottom of a zipper can require precise finger movements. Our top with a magnetic zipper uses magnets to help the two sides connect. Once connected, the zipper can be pulled up in the usual way.
This can make the top easier to fasten for women with limited dexterity, reduced hand strength, stiff fingers, or joint pain. The magnetic closure is discreet and does not change the top’s familiar appearance.
Women’s sweaters with magnetic zippers
Our sweater with a magnetic zipper provides an extra layer on cooler days. The full front opening means that it does not need to be pulled over the head, which may be helpful for women with limited movement in their shoulders or arms.
The magnets help the two sides of the zipper connect before it is pulled up. This reduces the precision needed to fasten the sweater and makes it easy to open again when the temperature changes.
Women’s polo shirts with magnetic buttons
Traditional polo shirt buttons can be difficult to handle when fingers are stiff, painful, or have reduced strength.
On our adaptive polo shirts, magnetic buttons replace traditional buttons and buttonholes. The magnets help the front fasten without the need to handle small buttons. From the outside, the polo shirt retains its classic appearance.
The polo shirt can be worn on its own or under a sweater or cardigan.
Women’s side-opening pants
Our side-opening pants are designed for wheelchair users and women who spend extended periods in bed. A discreet zipper along the side creates a wider opening, which can make the pants easier to put on and take off.
The design can make both independent and assisted dressing easier while providing greater comfort when sitting or lying down for extended periods.
How to choose the right adaptive clothing
Start by considering which part of dressing causes the most difficulty.
If small buttons are hard to fasten, a polo shirt with magnetic buttons may be a good choice. If connecting a zipper is the main challenge, a top or sweater with a magnetic zipper may be more suitable. Side-opening pants may be helpful when conventional pants are difficult to pull over the feet, legs, or hips.
Also consider when and where the clothing will be worn. A lightweight top or polo shirt works well for everyday wear and warmer weather, while a sweater provides an extra layer on cooler days.
Size and fit are particularly important. Clothing that is too tight can be more difficult to put on, while clothing that is too loose may feel heavy or get in the way. If the garment will be worn while seated for long periods, it should provide enough room without creating uncomfortable folds.
It is not always necessary to replace an entire wardrobe. Beginning with the item that causes the most difficulty can make it easier to identify which adaptive features are most helpful.
Important information about magnetic closures
Magnetic closures may interfere with certain implanted medical devices. If you have a pacemaker, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), or another implanted medical device, consult your healthcare provider before wearing clothing with magnetic closures.
Designed to feel like your own clothing
Practical clothing does not need to look like a medical aid. Seniiorwear combines adaptive features with comfortable materials and a modern, familiar appearance.
Our clothing is designed for senior women and women whose dressing needs have changed because of arthritis, joint pain, reduced dexterity, limited mobility, surgery, or illness. The aim is to make dressing easier while allowing each woman to continue choosing clothing that reflects her personal style.
